Why you should eat well in long meetings and at conferences

Your brain and body are fine-tuned machines, they need good fuels to run properly. Our brain may only represent 2% of our body weight but it accounts for more than 20% of our energy consumption so Nutrition is vital!  To keep your energy levels high...

... you may want to reduce your sugar intake, choose wholegrains over white flour in baked goods and remain hydrated. Water is your best friend! 

You work hard and expect a lot from yourself and your teams. You need to be focused, productive and achieve peak performance every day, especially in those all-day meetings. 

Here are a few ideas about how to eat better at meetings – it will result in better concentration, you avoid the 3 o’clock slump and boost team morale at the same time. Challenge your caterer and you can ensure a more productive and efficient meeting. 
 
Breakfast / early morning arrival
  • Fruit skewers (avoid bananas and grapes)
  • Overnight oats with fresh fruit and nut butter
  • Egg muffins
 
Coffee breaks (morning or afternoon)
  • Wholegrain oat muffins
  • Yoghurt with fresh fruit salad
  • Wholegrain savoury energy bars (made with quinoa, oats, seeds, watercress and cheese)
 
Snacks and sweets during the day
  • Nuts 
  • Banana cakes with apple chunks 
  • Healthy brownies (made with sweet potatoes and ground almonds)
 
Lunch
  • Wholegrain pitta bread with hummus and roasted peppers 
  • Salads made from lentils or chickpeas with a dressing made from vinegar and oil
  • Quinoa and blueberry salad
  • Wholegrain spinach or meat tart with rocket pesto
  • Stuffed peppers with wholegrain rice
  • Lettuce wraps
